About me
I’m a Civil Engineer, Transport Planner, Founder and Angel Investor. During my twenty-eight-year career, I’ve been lucky enough to have lived in Malaysia, Singapore, Canada, Spain, France and the United Kingdom — and for the last five, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In my day job, I help develop master plans, and have served as the principal project sponsor in large-scale multi-modal mobility systems: concept and detailed master plans at one end, procurement, commissioning and operational readiness of transportation systems at the other.
I have two sons. Everything here is downstream of that. Twenty-eight years across several continents does something to a person. It leaves you with no patience for borders and no excuse for sitting on your hands. I am a citizen of the world by conviction rather than by paperwork, and I have two boys who will inherit whichever version of it we hand over.
My planning horizon is thirty years and beyond, because whilst my life may end before my work is done, the hope is that the systems and communities continue to thrive after I shed my mortal shell and that I leave the world a better place than before my arrival. To this end and with my angel investment hat on, I back three things with my own capital, where the money is scarce and the work is unglamorous: Education. Clean energy. Food security. It is for this simple reason that you will notice these themes appearing quite regularly in my “Wealthy” articles.
Before I let you go, I hope that you find some of my articles insightful, and that you heed my call to action to do good, in whatever capacity you are able to muster. Ad astra per aspera.
