Making new friends after retirement is not easy. When I was working, it was pretty much all I did except for all the other things I needed to do to keep our home going. My best friend still lives in Wisconsin, so there is not much chance to having lunch every week. And the friends I have made here in North Carolina, are all still working! Poor things!!
So, I set out to make some new friends. I work as a volunteer at the library one morning a week. I have met some pretty nice ladies, with common interests. Some of them are in a knitting group that I have joined, so that means I see them more often!
I walk Rusty around the block every day, so I have met some neighbors that I did not ever see before. I walked him before, but way before anyone else was up and out! After talking with some ladies, we started a garden club. We have spent time together working on community projects in the neighborhood, had lunch together, exchanged plants and suggestions for problem solving.
I have been retired for a while now, and have people to do things with if I want. I had to make an effort, but for me it was well worth it.
It’s never too late to have a second childhood. But the second one is up to you!…
